Specialized Academic Board Ê 14.053.01 with the right to confer a scientific degree of the Candidate of Sciences (Pedagogics) in the following fields 13.00.01 — General Pedagogics and History of Pedagogics, 13.00.04 —Theory and Methods of Professional Education functioned in Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University from 2004 until 2010 when 98 dissertations were defended. The Board was headed by Prof. Petro Saukh, Doctor of Sciences (Philosophy), and rector of the University. Since 2010 the Board has been headed by Professor Olexandra Dubasenyuk, Doctor of Sciences (Pedagogics).

On the basis of the Presidium Resolution № 76-06/6 of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine from October, the 7th, 2010 Specialized Academic Board D 14.053.01 was created in Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University with the right to confer a scientific degree of the Doctor and Candidate of Sciences (Pedagogics) in the following fields:

  • 13.00.04 — Theory and Methods of Vocational Training

A branch of science, which studies general principles of Pedagogics as a science, methodology of Pedagogics, the history of the pedagogical research and education. Research directions of this specialty are determined by the classifying characteristics. Their presence in the object and the subject of the research thesis is the obligatory stipulation for this specialty.

Specialty Certificate 13.00.04 — Theory and Methodology of Vocational Training

I. Specialty Formula

A branch of Pedagogic Science, which investigates the aim, contents, methods, means, organizational configurations of vocational education.

Research directions in this specialty are determined by the classifying features, the presence of which in the object and subject of the research thesis is the obligatory requirement for this specialty.

Classifying characteristics of the specialty:

  1. According to the organization of the pedagogic process: vocational education, higher education, postgraduate studies, distant education, self-education, education for adults; vocational studies at works;
  2. According to the object types of the pedagogic impact: students of trade schools, students (cadets) of higher educational establishments of all occupations, specialists; students of the postgraduate professional education system; employment centres students and educational subdivisions at plants;
  3. According to the structural constituent of the pedagogic science: history and theory of vocational training, special didactics;
  4. According to the branch constituent of the pedagogic science: (according to the branches of vocational training): all types of vocational training;

Documents Submitted to the Specialized Academic Board

  1. Application addressed to the Head of Specialized Academic Board with the request to accept the thesis for examination where it is indicated whether the the thesis is defended for the first time.
  2. Request signed by the head of the corresponding government institution if the applicant is a civil servant.
  3. Photocopy of the first page of the applicant’s passport (2 copies).
  4. Personal card, Form P- 2DS, approved by the Ministry of Statistics of Ukraine from 26.12.95 № 343, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine from 12.28.95 № 484/1020, with the information valid at the time of application’s submitting documents to the Board, signed by the head of the personnel service and sealed at the place of job, with a photograph on which the seal of the institution is put (2 copies).
  5. Copy of the Master’s (Specialist’s) Degree Diploma (2 copies). If a document is granterd by a higher education institution of a foreign state, a notarized and notified copy of the document together with the copy of the certificate recognizing the foreign certificate of education issued by the central executive body in the field of Education and Science (2 copies). Copy of a name change (2 copies) when the applicant has changed the name.
  6. Certificate of candidate examinations in the form approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 01.03.99 № 309 «On approval of the training of scientific and pedagogical staff» (with amendments).
  7. Sample of the order of admission to post graduate course, duly certified, if the applicant for the candidate degree has compiled a post graduate course.
  8. Copy of the diploma of the Candidate of Sciences issued by Hifher Attestation Board of Ukraine (2 copies) for the applicants for the degree of Doctor of Sciences. If the document is issued by a competent authority of a foreign country, with which an international agreement on mutual recognition of academic degrees is signed and legalized, unless otherwise provided for by international agreements and conventions, the notarized translation of the document is added (for foreigners).
  9. Conclusion about the scientific and practical value of the dissertation certified by institution where the dissertation was prepared or to which was an applicant was attached (2 copies). The conclusion is given in the form of the extract from the minutes of the department (interdepartmental seminar, laboratory), signed by the head of department (head of the seminar, laboratory), as a rule, by a Doctor of Sciences, approved of by the head of the institution and sealed. In conclusion, along with aspects of the thesis and the characteristics of the applicant’s personality it should be specified by whom and when the theme of the thesis was approved of, applicant’s specific personal contribution to all scientific papers published with co-authors should be described. The conclusion should contain information about bioethical examination of dissertation research (for applicants for academic degrees in medical, biological and veterinary sciences). The conclusion is valid for 1 year from the date of its approval to submission of the thesis for consideration in specialized academic board.
  10. Review of the scientific supervisor (research consultant) estimating the applicant and his work in preparing the thesis, sealed at the scientific supervisor’s (consultant’s) place of work. Original documents, copies of which are submitted to the Specialized Academic Board in accordance with this list are presented in person and are returned when the application is received by the Specialized Academic Board. The number of the copies of the thesis issued in accordance with the established requirements bound and signed by the author covers the necessity to send the copies to the Vernadsky National Library, University library, official opponents; abstract issued in accordance with the established requirements and signed by the author on the cover (2 copies); monographs, inventors’ certificates (copies), articles (copies) printed abstracts, papers and other materials of scientific conferences, symposia, seminars, schools (copies) listed in abstract. If copies of scientific papers are submitted accurate and complete baseline data relevant publications should be given on them. Copies of scientific papers are submitted in paper and signed by the Academic Secretary; abstract of the defended candidate dissertation (for doctoral degree candidates); copy the defended candidate dissertation (for doctoral degree candidates); CDor CD-R or CD-RW, which contains a file with the text of the abstract. File Name — aref.doc (2 copies); CD-ROM that contains the file with the text of the thesis to transfer to the Ukrainian Institute of Scientific-Technical and Economic Information. File Name — dis.doc.

In the documents of the foreigner the full name and sirname appear in the order in which they are written in the passport document.
